Peacemaking is a central declaration of the gospel. Through Jesus Christ, God restores our relationship and has granted us the gift of grace.
We experience God's grace as peace. God's peace restores, sustains and heals. In response to this good news, Christians go unto the world to proclaim and become part of God's peace giving us peacemakers.

NOMINATIONS FOR ANNUAL PEACEMAKER RECOGNITION
Since 1993, the Peacemaking and Justice Committee of the Presbytery of Scioto Valley has honored individuals, congregations and organizations for their exemplary ministries of peace. Though many are called to be peacemakers, a few have gone out of their way to bring peace to their congregations, communities and beyond. So far we have honored over fifty such individuals.
Nominations are due by December 31 of any given year. Individuals, sessions, or other groups may make nominations. The awards will be presented at the first Presbytery meeting after New Year’s Day.
If you know of an individual, a congregation, or organization within the Presbytery that has been an exemplary and effective peacemaker, we invite you to nominate them for the Peacemaker Recognition. The nomination should include a detailed description of the nominee’s contribution to the work of justice and peace. Send your nomination to Martha Campbell, Chair, Peacemaking and Justice Committee, 6937 Camden Dr, New Albany, OH 43054 or email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Peacemaking and Justice Committee has two main issues it plans to pursue in 2011-2012. They are Gun Violence and Mid East Peace. In relation to Gun Violence, the General Assembly has issued a study guide entitled "Gun Violence, Gospel Values: Moblizing in Response to God's Call". A copy of this guide will be available at the February, 2012 presbytery meeting or can be purchased through the Presbyterian Distribution Service (PDS) order # 24-052-11-002.
Mid East Peace will be addressed by two overtures at the February presbytery meeting. A study guide will also be available at that time entitled "Kairos Palestine: a moment of truth". The 2010 General Assembly stated that it "commends for study the Kairos Palestine Document" and "endorses the document's emphases on hope for liberation, nonviolence, love of enemy, and reconciliation. We lift up for study the often neglected voice of Palestinian Christians." PDS #2646610001
